Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Bo Kyung Kim, an individual operating Crésipe (“Crésipe,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your use of the Crésipe mobile app, website, and related services (the “Services”). By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Crésipe. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Crésipe only with permission from a parent or legal guardian who has reviewed these Terms with you. Do not create or continue using an account if applicable law does not allow you to consent to these Terms.
Crésipe checks the complete date of birth before normal account creation and does not call its authentication provider when the entered age is under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has created or retained an account, contact us so the account can be investigated and deleted.
2. What Crésipe provides
Crésipe is designed to help people discover recipes, identify visible food, manage pantry ingredients, log meals, understand estimated calories and nutrients, and track food, cooking, activity, and general-wellness goals. Features may include food and barcode lookup, meal-photo analysis, fridge or pantry scanning, recipe generation, cooking progress, badges, streaks, ranks, and optional read-only displays from Apple Health or Android Health Connect.
3. General wellness only, not medical care
Crésipe is not a healthcare provider, medical service, medical device, emergency service, or substitute for a doctor, registered dietitian, or other qualified professional. It does not diagnose, treat, prevent, monitor, or cure any condition and does not provide individualized medical care.
Crésipe does not intentionally request or use diagnoses, symptoms, medications, laboratory results, treatment information, pregnancy information, or medical conditions for personalization. Do not enter that information into custom goals, recipe notes, meal-correction notes, or support messages.
Nutrition and activity needs vary, especially for teenagers. Consult a qualified professional before making significant changes to diet, exercise, weight, or health routines. If you may be experiencing a medical emergency, contact local emergency services and do not rely on Crésipe.
4. Nutrition and photo-estimate limitations
Calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, micronutrients, portions, ingredients, and other food information are informational estimates. Results can vary materially because of serving size, brand, recipe, hidden ingredients, oils, sauces, substitutions, preparation method, cooking loss, restaurant practices, and the quality or angle of an image.
A clear photograph can still be misidentified. Fridge and pantry scanning can miss visible items or suggest an item that is not present. Meal-photo analysis can mistake one food for another or estimate the wrong amount. Review and edit results before relying on or logging them.
5. AI-generated content
Some ingredients, recipes, nutrition estimates, and food explanations are generated using artificial intelligence. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, repetitive, outdated, or unsuitable for your circumstances. It may not reflect every product label, substitution, cross-contact risk, or food-safety requirement. You are responsible for deciding whether to prepare, consume, or rely on a suggestion.
Crésipe uses moderation, structured output, scope checks, and other safeguards, but those measures cannot prevent every error. Do not try to bypass safeguards or use Crésipe to obtain medical, self-harm, dangerous, illegal, or otherwise harmful instructions.
6. Allergies and food safety
Crésipe cannot guarantee that a recipe, scan, database result, or AI response is allergen-free. Allergy filtering is an additional safeguard, not a substitute for checking labels and ingredients yourself. Product formulations change, databases can be incomplete, AI can miss indirect ingredients, and cross-contact can occur during manufacturing, storage, restaurant preparation, or cooking.
If an allergy or intolerance could cause harm, verify packaging, ingredient lists, manufacturer information, preparation surfaces, restaurant procedures, and substitutions independently. Follow appropriate food-storage, hygiene, cooking-temperature, and spoilage guidance.
7. Third-party food and platform information
Food search and barcode information may come from Open Food Facts or other identified sources. Third-party information is supplied by others and may be missing, inaccurate, outdated, or subject to third-party terms and licences. Crésipe does not control those databases or guarantee their availability.
The Services also depend on platforms and providers such as Supabase, OpenAI, Resend, Apple, Google, Cloudflare, and Google Fonts. Their services may experience outages, impose limits, change, or apply their own terms. Your use of Apple Health, Health Connect, the App Store, Google Play, or Instagram is also governed by the applicable provider’s terms.
8. Your account
Provide accurate information, keep your password and device secure, and do not share confirmation codes or password-reset links. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise. Contact support@cresipe.app promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
You may stop using Crésipe at any time. You can request permanent account deletion from Profile → Privacy & Terms → Delete my account, or use our web deletion-request page if you cannot access the app. Account deletion is irreversible after it completes.
9. Free service and usage limits
Crésipe is currently provided without subscriptions, paid downloads, advertising, or in-app purchases. Usage limits apply to features that use significant server or AI resources, including fridge or pantry scanning, recipe generation, and meal-photo analysis. These limits help keep the free service reliable, control operating costs, and protect it from automated abuse.
Usage allowances have no cash value and cannot be transferred. We may adjust limits or temporarily restrict a feature to protect users or infrastructure, respond to provider limits, or keep the service sustainable. Where required, we will provide appropriate notice of a material change.
10. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the Services unlawfully or violate another person’s privacy, intellectual property, or other rights;
- upload content you do not have the right to use, or content that is unlawful, abusive, exploitative, or harmful;
- seek medical diagnosis or treatment instructions through fields intended for food and cooking;
- attempt to access another account, private image, database record, secret key, or restricted system;
- defeat quotas, moderation, allergy protections, age restrictions, authentication, or security controls;
- interfere with the Services, distribute malware, automate abusive requests, scrape restricted content, or overload infrastructure; or
- reverse engineer or circumvent protected parts of the Services except to the limited extent that applicable law expressly permits.
11. Your information and uploaded content
You retain any ownership rights you have in photos, recipe text, notes, and other content you submit. You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, reproduce, format, transmit, and process that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and provide the Services you request. This licence ends when the content and related backups are deleted, except where continued retention is permitted or required by law.
You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit your content and that processing it as described in these Terms and the Privacy Policy will not violate another person’s rights. Do not upload images containing people, private documents, or unrelated sensitive information when a food-only image will work.
12. Crésipe intellectual property
Crésipe’s software, branding, visual design, and original content are protected by intellectual-property and other laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Services for their intended purpose. No ownership interest is transferred to you.
Third-party software, fonts, food data, and other licensed materials remain subject to their respective owners’ rights and applicable open-source or data licences. These Terms do not give us ownership of third-party materials.
13. Service availability and changes
We do not promise that every feature will always be available, uninterrupted, compatible with every device, or free from errors. Features, limits, providers, supported platforms, and content may change. We may perform maintenance, correct errors, suspend a feature, or discontinue part or all of the Services. Where required by law, we will provide appropriate notice of material changes.
14. Suspension and termination
We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to investigate misuse, protect users or infrastructure, enforce these Terms, comply with law, or respond to a security or safety risk. Where appropriate and legally required, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue. We may terminate an account for serious or repeated violations. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability, will continue to apply.
15. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy to the extent those warranties may legally be disclaimed. We do not warrant that AI output, nutrition information, food identification, allergy filtering, or third-party data will be accurate, complete, safe for you, or available at all times.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, guarantees, rights, or remedies that cannot legally be excluded, including mandatory consumer-protection rights.
16. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Crésipe and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, opportunities, or goodwill, arising from or related to the Services. Crésipe is not responsible for harm caused by relying on an unverified ingredient, allergen result, portion, nutrition estimate, recipe, third-party food record, or AI response.
These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability arising from fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence where it cannot be excluded, or death or personal injury where limitation is prohibited. Any limitation applies only to the maximum extent allowed in your jurisdiction.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to mandatory consumer rights that allow you to bring a claim elsewhere, the courts located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada will have jurisdiction over disputes relating to these Terms or the Services.
Before starting formal proceedings, you and Crésipe agree to make a reasonable effort to resolve the issue by contacting the other party. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief or using a consumer-protection process that cannot be waived.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the Services or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice or request consent when required. If you do not agree to updated Terms, stop using the Services and delete your account. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance only where permitted by law.
